Rufiji Delta jumbo prawns, trawl-free, BAP 4-star.
Penaeus indicus from the world’s largest mangrove delta on the East African coast. Artisanal trap-and-pot harvest. Zero-trawl policy.
Mangrove-protected, hand-harvested
The Rufiji Delta is the largest mangrove ecosystem on Africa’s east coast, a critical nursery for white-spot prawn (Penaeus indicus). Industrial trawling here would destroy it. Our partner co-op (the Rufiji Prawn Harvesters Association, est. 2014) uses only artisanal trap-and-pot fishing on outgoing tides. No trawl, ever.
